Fortnightly Lectures

The ‘Sociology Seminar Series’ is a series of lectures and discussions organized each semester by the Department of Sociology. The series deals with issues and themes relevant to ongoing debates in sociology in particular and social sciences and humanities more generally. The series is of interest to the larger social science community as well as students and is open to everyone. The lectures and discussions are delivered by distinguished social scientists as well as young scholars embarking on innovative research.

Cinema and Society

 

Cinema and Society

Cinema and Society is a film discussion forum, under the aegis of the Department of Sociology, South Asian University. The objective of this forum is to provide students an opportunity to discuss films as young social scientists and to engage with cinematic texts and forms. Usually an invited discussant, who can sometimes be the director of the film, or the coordinator would take the lead in directing and moderating the discussion.
