             Peradeniya, Sri Lanka (17-18.10.2019) SAU FE News: The 7th Peradeniya International Economics Research
             Symposium (PIERS), organized annually by the Department of Economics and Statistics at the University
             of  Peradeniya  since  2013   saw  active  participation  of  foreign  and  local  academics  researchers  and ,
             policymakers. The Faculty of Economics, South Asian University, was a collaborative partner for this
             conference, whose central theme was “Nothing to be Left Behind: Integrating Sub-national Dynamics
             Towards Global Sustainable Development”.


             Professor   Arup Mitra, Dean, Faculty of Economics, SAU, delivered the keynote address, titled,  Joint “
             Efforts  for  Innovation  and  Employment-Intensive  Growth .  Dr.  Debdatta  Saha,  Assistant  Professor, ”
             Faculty  of  Economics,  SAU,  was  a  part  of  the  first  panel  discussion,  which  discussed  issues  of
             entrepreneurship and efficiency of public expenditure.



             International workshop on Efficiency and Productivity Measurement using R

                                                                New  Delhi  (01-02.11.2019)  SAU  FE  News:  The
                                                                Faculty  of  Economics  organised  a  two-day
                                                                workshop  on  Efficiency  and  Productivity
                                                                Analysis using R on 1 and 2 November 2019. The
                                                                classroom-based  workshop  was  focused  on
                                                                both  parametric  and  non-parametric
                                                                approaches  to  efficiency  and  productivity
                                                                measurement.  The  content  of  the  workshop
                                                                was designed meticulously with the objective to
                                                                provide a healthy balance between theory and
                                                                hands-on  applications.  The  course  content  of
             the  workshop  covered  both  basic  and  advanced  Data  Envelopment  Analysis  (DEA)  and  Stochastic
             Frontier Analysis (SFA) models. There were 44 national and international participants in the workshop. It
             was attended by doctoral students, post-doctoral fellows, academicians, and corporate professionals
             working in the field of efficiency and productivity analysis. Professor Sunil Kumar was the convenor of the
             workshop.
