              SAU Entrance Test



             New Delhi (27-28.04.2019) SAU News: The Entrance Test of the South Asian University for Admissions for
             the2019batchwasheldonSaturday,27AprilandSunday,28April2019across42CentresinIndiaandthe7
             other SAARC nations. This year, SAU decided to go online and the test was administered digitally to 8316
             candidates for the Masters and PhD programmes. For each programme, the test was administered at
             exactlythesametimeinAfghanistan,Bangladesh,Bhutan,India,Maldives,Pakistan,NepalandSriLanka.


             SAU offers Masters level courses as well as PhD programmes in Applied Mathematics, Biotechnology,
             Computer Science, Economics, International Relations, Law and Sociology. The largest number of
             applicants were from India (6677), followed by Afghanistan (1214), Bangladesh (174), Nepal (90) Bhutan
             (88) Pakistan (51) and Sri Lanka (21). A total of 4911 applicants took the entrance test for various Master's
             programmes. At the Master’s level, International Relations attracted the largest number of applicants
             (1514), averaging at about 50 candidates competing for each seat in the programme, followed by
             Economics (1426), LLM (623), Biotechnology (613), Applied Mathematics (610) Sociology (471) and
             Computer Science (409). Each Master’s programme has a total of 30 seats out of which 50 percent seats
             are for Indian nationals, 10 percent each for nationals of Pakistan and Bangladesh and 4 percent each for
             Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives and Sri Lanka. There are also 10 percent seats for candidates from
             outsidetheSAARCregion.

             At the Doctoral level, a total of 1773 candidates took the entrance tests for the various programmes. The
             largest number of applicants were for Biotechnology (523) followed by International Relations (472),
             Applied Mathematics (463), Sociology (269), Economics (239), Computer Science (171) and Legal Studies
             (160). In the doctoral programmes each Department has 6 seats, except for Biotechnology which has 8
             seats. Half of the seats in each programme are for Indian students and the other half for non-Indians.
             BeforethestartofthenewsessioninendJuly,a2weekOrientationProgrammefornon-Indianstudentsis
             also planned. We hope that the new batch of students is as excited to join SAU as we are to welcome
             them.
