             SAU-SAGE Author Workshops

             New Delhi (Feb, March & May 2019) SAU
             Sociology News: The Department of
             Sociology facilitated three SAU-Sage
             Author Workshops in the Winter 2019
             semester. The Sage Author workshops
             have been developed by Sage, as part of
             its Corporate Social Responsibility
             initiative, and aim to work with research
             scholarsatuniversitiesacrossthecountry,
             helping them to strengthen their writing
             capacity, particularly as they seek to
             develop and publish their academic work
             for public consumption a nd
             dissemination. The workshops held at SAU were open to students from the Faculty of Law, Economics,
             Sociology and International Relations. Of these, two workshops were aimed specifically at MPhil/PhD
             students,whileoneworkshopwasdesignedforMAstudents.


             The workshops were conducted by Arpita Das, publisher at Yoda Press, on behalf of Sage, and
             coordinated by Dr. Diya Mehra, on behalf of the Department of Sociology. The workshops were entitled:
             ‘Notetaking for Academic Writing’ (thirty MA students), ‘Structuring your Dissertation’ (twelve
             MPhil/PhD students) and ‘Writing as an Academic’ (twelve MPhil/PhD students). All three workshops
             wereoversubscribed,withstudentsrequestingthatadditionalworkshopsbeheldinthenearfuture.





             Gender Sensitization Committee Event

             New Delhi (10.04.2019) SAU News: Pandies Theatre presented
             Exploring Gender, an event organized by the SAU Gender
             Sensitization Committee, on 10 April 2019 at the SAU campus.
             The group presented four pieces of play, each on a distinctive
             issueofgenderbiasandchallenges.Committedtostagingplays
             relevant to the ethos and time of the current generation,
             Pandies Theatre group has a secular, pro-minority agenda and
             worksonlyonprojectsthatarebiasedtowardstheseissues.


             The group is led by Dr. Sanjay Kumar, who is a practitioner of
             activist theatre. As the founding President of Pandies’ Theatre
             and the director/chief-facilitator of its productions since 1993,
             he has been creating performances with and for the
             marginalizedinIndiaforover20years.
