POSTCOLONIAL IR: ENGAGING WITH PUBLIC HISTORY IN SOUTH ASIA AND BEYOND

The Department of International Relations at the South Asian University, New Delhi invites you to an interdisciplinary workshop on ‘Postcolonial IR: Engaging with Public History in South Asia and Beyond’ at SAU on Monday, 18 March 2019. 

 

The Keynote Address for the workshop would be delivered by Dr. Shekhar Pathak on ‘South Asian Public History Through Himalayan Eyes’ (09:45 – 11:15). Dr. Pathak is the founder of PAHAR (People’s Association for Himalaya Area Research), an NGO dedicated to raising awareness about the Himalayan ecosystem and the communities dependent on it. 

 

The workshop will feature the following sessions: 

  1. Session I (11:30 – 13:00) – ‘Things Fall Apart’? Interpreting the Postcolonial Turn in IR
  2. Session II (14:00 – 16:00 ) – ‘Remembrance of Things Past’: Recalling and Commemorating History
  3. Session III (16:15 – 17:45 ) – ‘The Inheritance of Loss’: Understanding Migrations and Memories in South Asia
