South Asia Introduction

Introduction to South Asia

Winter Semester 2020-2021

A two credit course called ‘Introduction to South Asia’ is compulsory for all first year MA/MSc (and MPhil/PhD students who have not taken it earlier) students. This semester it is being offered to Semester II students of all Departments and Faculties. Students must choose one of the following options:

1. The Sociology of Everyday Life
2. International Trade, Foreign Investment and South Asia
3. Introduction to South Asian Economies
4. Science and Society
5. Reimaging International Relations in South Asia: Emerging concerns

Students must list the above options in order of preference in the form provided here under and submit it to their Faculty Assistant latest by Wednesday, 10th March 2021. Each course will not admit more than 30 students. Allocations will be made on a first-come-first-served basis so early birds are likely to get the courses that they have opted for while all others will have to settle for their second or third choice. Also, students cannot opt for the course offered by their parent department/faculty so that students of Sociology cannot opt for ‘The Sociology of Everyday Life’ and students of Economics cannot opt for ‘Introduction to South Asian Economies’ and students of FLS cannot opt for ‘International Trade, Foreign Investment and South Asia’.

Please remember that the grades you earn in this course will be added to your CGPA with 2 credits. In order to offer a course, there should be a minimum of 5 students.
