The Department of Mathematics was established in the year 2012, with a vision of being a research-oriented Department that would cater the need of application oriented research in Mathematics. Keeping in view the applicability of mathematics across almost all disciplines, the department started its first two-year course as MSc in Applied Mathematics. The up-to-date curriculum of this course has been so designed that after completion of the course, the students would be equally equipped either to join variety of industries or to go to academics. Moreover, the department is committed to keep the curriculum dynamic so that the latest trend/demand of the courses would be taken care of.
From 2025, in addition to MSc (Applied Mathematics), the department is going to start MSc (Mathematics) as well in order to provide a more flexible curriculum. At the time of joining the programme, the students can choose between MSc (Applied Mathematics) and MSc (Mathematics).
Also starting from 2025, both the programmes MSc (Applied Mathematics) as well as MSc (Mathematics) will be offered in two-year duration as well as in one -year duration. Those having four-year relevant undergraduate degree can opt for one-year MSc programme. Every Master student has the opportunity to write a Master Thesis as a part of the curriculum which make the programme research oriented.
