The Faculty of Chemical Sciences, South Asian University, organised an inaugural lecture on ‘Chemistry- A vision and opportunities beyond the border’ by Professor Akhilesh K. Verma, a highly respected Academician whose expertise and dedication to the field of chemistry has inspired many. The honourable President, Professor K.K Aggarwal, along with Faculty members, was warmly welcomed to the lecture Hall. Dr. Trapti gave an introductory speech and invited the president to felicitate Professor Akhilesh K. Verma. The president also gave a small speech, emphasising on the importance of interdisciplinary sciences and how all science fields are interconnected. The lecture started with professor Akhilesh apprising students on how chemistry is found everywhere, and the role it plays in our everyday lives. He emphasised on how each science field is incomplete without the other, and enlightened students on various educational and career opportunities in the field of chemical sciences. He ended the lecture by inspiring students to start working towards their goal from Day-1, and not wasting their crucial time. Professor Akhilesh was then given a token of appreciation by the Associate Dean, Dr. Jyotsana Sharma after which Professor Akhilesh K. Verma, faculty members, and students were then invited for a light repast. Overall, the lecture was insightful and helpful, and enriched the students’ understanding of basic chemistry, sparking curiosity for further exploration.
