To mark National Science Day, South Asian University organized a two-day International Workshop on “Bridging the Gap Across Sciences,” hosted by the Faculty of Physical Sciences in collaboration with the Faculty of Chemical Sciences and Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies.

Dr. Jyotsna Sharma, Associate Dean (Faculty of Physical Sciences), welcomed the gathering and outlined the programme, followed by felicitation of dignitaries and release of the abstract booklet. Prof. Sanjay Chaturvedi, Vice President (Outreach), highlighted education as a transformative process, while Prof. Pankaj Jain, Vice President (Academics), spoke on the role of science in daily life. The inaugural ceremony was led by Hon’ble SAU President, Prof. K. K. Aggarwal, who emphasized that future innovation depends on interdisciplinary approaches.

Technical sessions featured Prof. D.N. Gupta from the University of Delhi on the Raman Effect and modern spectroscopy, and an international keynote by Prof. Nagendra Kaushik from Kwangwoon University on plasma-based nanotechnology in biology. A hands-on LaTeX workshop was conducted by Dr. Preeti Bhandari, followed by a formal Vote of Thanks by Dr. Trapti.

The activity session witnessed enthusiastic student engagement in debates, reel making, photography, and STEAM sketching, fostering creativity alongside scientific inquiry. A special Wall of Fame paid tribute to underrated scientists from the SAARC region through compelling art and photographic displays. The day concluded with vibrant discussions over tea, record participation, and strong anticipation for the sessions scheduled on Day 2.
