Nabarun
Roy is Assistant Professor (Senior Grade) at the South Asian University. He did
his doctoral studies from Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada from the
Department of Political Science and has a Master’s degree in Politics (with
specialisation in International Relations) from the School of International
Studies, JNU, New Delhi. His research interests are in theories of
international relations, wars, great power politics, Indian foreign policy,
Indian security policy, the geopolitics of South Asia, and history. His
research has been published in leading journals such as Diplomacy & Statecraft, the International
History Review, the Journal of Asian
Security and International Affairs, India Quarterly and India
Review. He has been Guest Editor of a Special Issue of India Review on “India and the Sovereignty Question” (March, 2024) along with Dr. Rudra Choudhury (Director, Carnegie, India).
Nabarun
has successfully supervised 3 PhD dissertations and 2 MPhil dissertations since
joining SAU in 2012. He is currently supervising 3 PhD scholars and 1 MPhil
scholar. He has also served as External Examiner for PhD and MPhil
dissertations of scholars from JNU and the University of Hyderabad. He has
served as reviewer for various journals in the discipline of International
Relations such as Asian Security,
International Studies Quarterly, Jadavpur Journal of International Relations,
Journal of Borderlands Studies, Journal of the Indian Ocean Region, etc.
Nabarun
has engaged and collaborated with various institutions to further the
understanding of International Relations. He has served as Convenor of the
Curriculum Task Force instituted to advice and aid the North Eastern Christian
University (NECU), Dimapur, in developing its Master’s program. In his capacity
as Consultant to Villa College, Maldives, he helped develop module online
templates and handbooks for its new BA Political Science and International Relations
(Hons) programme. He has also lectured on India-Maldives Relations as part of
the Capacity Building Program for senior civil servants from the Maldives organised
by the National Centre for Good Governance, Mussoorie.
