
Dr. Amit K. Shukla is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at South Asian University, New Delhi, India. Prior to this, he served as Associate Professor at the University of Vaasa, Finland, and held postdoctoral research positions at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland, and the University of Rennes 1 (ENSSAT), France. Amit also has several years of industrial experience working on projects from companies such as NOKIA, SONY, and AT&T. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from South Asian University under the prestigious INSPIRE Fellowship awarded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, and was awarded the Gold Medal for his academic performance in his Master's degree.
His research interests include Uncertainty Modelling, Computational Intelligence, Machine Learning, Responsible and Explainable Artificial Intelligence, and Intelligent Systems for Industry 4.0. He has authored more than 50 publications in leading international journals and conferences and actively serves the research community as a reviewer for several high-impact journals.
Dr. Shukla is a Senior Member of IEEE and serves on several academic, professional, and editorial committees. He has held numerous leadership roles within the international computational intelligence community, including Technical Program Chair of NordiCHI 2026, Chair AIE 2024, member of the IEEE CIS Strategic Planning Subcommittee, IEEE Mentoring and Skills Development Sub-Committee, and chair/co-chair of multiple special sessions and tracks at IEEE WCCI and FUZZ-IEEE conferences. He has led and contributed to several funded research projects supported by the European Urban Initiative, Business Finland, University of Jyväskylä. During his tenure at the University of Vaasa, he played a key role in establishing the Master's Programme in Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering, contributing to program development, curriculum design, and the creation of several new courses in AI and data-driven technologies.
