Dr. Kiran Rai, a University Gold Medalist in both LL.B. and LL.M., is Professor of Law at Faculty of Legal Studies, South Asian University (currently on lien from National Law University Mumbai). Before joining SAU she was serving as Professor of Law at Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University (RMNLU), Lucknow, U.P. She was Head of Undergraduate & Postgraduate Department at MNLU Mumbai and has worked as In-Charge Dean at School of Law, Galgotias University. She was the Chairperson of Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) at MNLU Mumbai.

 Dr. Rai is Visiting Professor at National Institute of Securities Market (NiSM), an undertaking of Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). She has been Visiting Faculty at National Institute for Training in Industrial Engineering (now IIM Mumbai) and Institute of Technology, Nirma University, Ahmedabad. She has been regularly delivering lectures at institutions of national repute, such as - National Judicial Academy, Bhopal; School of Legal Studies, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Cochin; Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) of Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur. She has been invited delegate in some of the prestigious international conferences such as International Conference on “European Network for Clinical Legal Education (ENCLE)” organized at Department of Law, at University of Turin, Italy.

 She is a Member of ‘Network of Indian Competition Experts’ (NICE) formed by Competition Commission of India (CCI). She is also on board as a Member of Consultation Group formed by Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), ‘Advisory Committee on Listing Obligations and Disclosure. Earlier to this she was Member of Consultation Group, ‘Expert Committee for facilitating Ease of Doing Business’ (SEBI) and ‘Harmonization of the Provisions of ICDR and LODR Regulations’ (SEBI). She was invited as an Expert by Institute of Technology, Nirma University for the framing of the syllabus of an elective course ‘Law for Engineers’.

 Dr. Rai has collaborated with NCW, NHRC, CCI and IBBI to organize many seminars and workshops. She has offered Certificate Courses on Competition Law, Insolvency Law and Mergers & Acquisition in collaboration with CCI, IBBI and ICSI IIP. Dr. Rai was Director of Centre for Training and Research in Commercial Regulations at MNLU Mumbai. She was also Faculty Advisor of Journal on Corporate Law and Commercial Regulations, the sole student run journal of MNLU Mumbai. She is currently associated with a Project on “Use of AI in Law” with Prof. (Dr.) Asim Tewari Professor, Center for Machine Intelligence & Data Science (C-MInDS), Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Mumbai).

 Her 24 Research Papers and Articles have been published in various peer-reviewed and UGC-CARE Journals and Magazines, including the Cochin University Law Review, the Bar Council of India’s Indian Bar Review, the Banaras Law Journal and ICFAI Marketing Mastermind among others. She has also authored 5 Books. On invitation, she has contributed 1 Chapter in Special Edition Book on ‘Tradition of Law & Legal System’ published by Centre for Vedic Science, BHU, Varanasi.

 Her current areas of interest are Cross-Border Insolvency Law, Sustainability, Competition Law and Securities Law.
