Prof. (Dr.) Ritu Gupta is a Professor of Law at Faculty of Legal Studies (FLS) SAU (currently on lien from National Law University Delhi). She has been Research Director of Centre for Business and Financial Laws (CBFL) at NLUD and has also taught at University School of Law and Legal Studies (USLLS), Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), Dwarka, and Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies (VIPS), Pitampura. Prof. Gupta specialises in Commercial and Business Laws like Contract, Banking, Property and Competition Law. Her areas of interests include Legal Education and Research, Judicial Process, Interpretation of Statutes and Gender Justice. She has written two books one on ‘Sexual Harassment at Workplace’ and the other on ‘Law of Contract’ including the Specific Relief Act, 1963, both published by LexisNexis.

Prof. Gupta was conferred Visiting ASLI (Asian Law Institute) Fellowship at National University of Singapore (NUS) in March 2025. She has featured in the BW Legal World’s list of ‘100 Influential Women Driving Change in Indian Legal Ecosystem’ in the category of top 5 academicians consecutively for two years.

Prof. Gupta has vast experience of being a resource person and has conducted training programmes on Gender Sensitization, ‘Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace’ and Contract Management for Judges, IAS & IRS Officers, DANICS probationers, Doordarshan & All India Radio (AIR) etc. She has presented papers and attended academic events in various countries like Norway, Poland, China, Singapore, Australia, USA and Srilanka etc.

Prof. Gupta is an external expert member of the Internal Complaints Committees (ICC) of the Cabinet Secretariat at Rastrapati Bhawan, Principal Scientific Advisor to Government of India, and NHRC, New Delhi. Earlier she has been an external expert member of ICC at ‘Prasar Bharati,’ Ministry of Women & Child Development (MWCD), GOI and Competition Commission of India (CCI).

She has been a member of the NHRC’s Core Group of Women, an external expert in the advisory board of NHRC’s Hindi Magazine ‘Nayee Dishayein’and Board of Referees of many refereed journals including National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB). She is member of editorial board of CCI Journal and has reviewed manuscripts for World Development (Elsevier) and Sage etc.

She had been conferred ‘REX Karamveer Global Fellowship and Karamveer Chakra Award’ in March 2015 for her outstanding contribution to women empowerment. She had earlier been selected for the award of doctoral fellowship by Indian Council for Social Sciences and Research (ICSSR), New Delhi and declared ‘Ms. Super Brain Super Personality’ by Competition Success Review in a National level Competition in 1998.
