
Prof. Ranjan Kumar Mohanty received his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Mathematics, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, in 1990, for his research on “Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations.” After Ph.D, he has more than 36 years of teaching and research experience at the University of Indore, the University of Delhi, and South Asian University (SAU).
Prof. Mohanty is a recipient of the prestigious Fulbright-Nehru Senior Research Fellowship (2013), Commonwealth Fellowship (2000), and BOYSCAST Fellowship (1996). Under these fellowship programmes, he carried out postdoctoral research at Louisiana Tech University, USA; Nottingham Trent University, UK; and Loughborough University, UK. He has also visited the Technical University of Dresden, Germany; the University of Strathclyde, Scotland; Nottingham Trent University, England; and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China, under the INSA-DFG, INSA-Royal Society, and INSA-CAS bilateral exchange programmes to pursue advanced research in his field.
Prof. Mohanty has published more than 250 research papers in reputed international journals. He has successfully guided 32 Ph.D. students. He has delivered numerous invited lectures and served as a resource person at various academic institutions and conferences in India and abroad. He is also a regular reviewer for several national and international journals.
In recognition of his significant contributions to research in his field, Prof. Mohanty was elected a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India (FNASc), in 2012. He was also awarded the NASI Senior Scientist position at South Asian University (SAU) in 2026.
