Rolling Advertisement for the Position of Professors who can lead the new initiatives

South Asian University (SAU) is an international university established and funded by the SAARC Member Nations and built by Ministry of External Affairs, Govt of India. It invites applications for Faculty Positions at the level of Professor. We are seeking outstanding, highly qualified, and experienced scholars, preferably in their mid-fifties or above, to contribute to our academic programs.

Profile & Qualifications:

  • Academic Excellence: Must be distinguished scholars (At least 5 years as Professor or Equivalent) with a proven record of excellence in research and teaching.
  • Strategic Fit: Academic expertise should strengthen, broaden, or complement the existing programs of the University. (A full list of current faculties and departments is available on our official website).
  • Current Affiliation: Those who are working with reputed national/international universities or institutions of eminence are encouraged to submit the details for consideration. Faculty members from government universities/institutions may be considered for deputation for a fixed term.

Eligibility & Nationality:

  • Citizens of all countries are eligible. Candidates from SAARC Member Nations are especially encouraged.
  • Selected candidates of nationalities other than India will be recommended for consideration of Indian work visa.

Salary, Benefits, Allowances & Other Facilities:

  • Salary (USD 30,000-45,000 per annum), Benefits and Incentives: The salary will be better than most Indian and other SAARC universities. The salary can be fixed higher than the minimum in the scale. A Cost of Living Increase (COLI) will be applicable as approved from time to time.
  • Allowances: In addition to the basic salary, other components like University housing or HRA (25% of the basic salary) and contribution to the pension fund (10% of the basic salary).
  • Annual increment: An annual increment of 3% in basic salary will be provided
  • Privileges and Immunities: The faculty members will enjoy privileges and immunities as regulated by the SAU Act, 2008, and the Headquarters Agreement. The salary and allowances are exempted from Income tax.
  • Health coverage: The University offers health benefit schemes in accordance with SAU Rules and Regulations.
  • Relocation allowance: Newly appointed faculty members from outside Delhi are entitled to a relocation allowance (up to one month’s basic salary) which will be payable upon submission of receipts of actual expenses incurred.
  • Leave: SAU has provisions for duty leave, sabbatical leave, casual leave, earned leave, medical leave etc. as per the University’s Rules, Regulations and Bye-laws.
  • Professional Development Allowance and Faculty Research Grant: Faculty members will be eligible for these as per the SAU Norms.

Requirements:

We welcome candidates across various subjects such as Arts and Design, Chemistry, Economics, English, Legal Studies, Physics, International Relations, Life Sciences and Biotechnology, Computer Science and Engineering, Sociology, Management, Mathematics, Media studies and, Climate Change, including interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary studies. The new areas can also be suggested by the candidates. Eligible applicants must submit:

  2. A vision and strategy statement detailing their support to the existing courses, new disciplines and innovative courses they propose for SAU’s future growth.
  3. A strategic 5-year roadmap for their tenure at SAU.
