Dr. Rinkoo D Gupta, Associate Professor (SG) at the Faculty of Life Sciences and Biotechnology, South Asian University, New Delhi, has published a research article titled “Rational designing of human senescence marker protein 30 for enhanced hydrolysis of V-type nerve agent analog” in the Biochemical Engineering JournalDr. Priyamedha Yadav and Manik Goel are the co-authors.

Dr. Rinkoo D Gupta and her PhD students Manik Goel & Priyamedha Yadav presented their research findings titled “Inhibition of Mycobacterium smegmatis Biofilm formation by recombinantly produced proteins” which was shortlisted by the Screening Committee for showcasing during the ‘India Innovation Summit – Pioneering Solutions to End TB’ at the Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre, New Delhi from March 18-19, 2025.

Dr. Rinkoo D Gupta has received an extramural grant titled ‘Designing and production of antibody fragments (scFv) and complete neutralizing humanized antibody for the treatment of Dengue’ from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Government of India, 2025-2028. The total sanctioned amount is INR 40,21,500.

Prof. Ritu Gaur and her team of PhD students- Madhu and Aradhana Singh have published their research work on porphyrins as  a new class of compounds which block HIV entry into cells in the prestigious journal- “Journal of Medical Virology”. This work has also been granted an Indian Patent.

Dr. Ananda Mustafiz, Associate Professor (SG) at the Plant Molecular Biology Laboratory, Faculty of Life Sciences & Biotechnology, has achieved yet another milestone! 🎉 His latest research paper, “Cytoprotective Role of Pyruvate in Mitigating Abiotic Stress Response in Arabidopsis thaliana,” has been published in the journal “Plant Science” (ELSEVIER), boasting an impressive impact factor of 4.2. 🌱✨

What makes this achievement truly remarkable is the spirit of collaboration it represents. Co-authored by three brilliant students—Nazmir Binta Alam from Bangladesh, Sangay Pelzang from Bhutan, and Arushi Jain from India, this paper is a true amalgamation of SAARC nations working together as a team, perfectly reflecting the core mission of South Asian University: fostering unity and academic excellence across borders. 🌏💡

Dr. Yuba Raj Pokharel and his research team of #PhD Scholars Piyush Kumar and # M.Sc. students; Pratibha SharmaAnshul Chikara, and Ayanti Barua from Cancer Biology Laboratory, have just published a research article entitled “Synthesis of 5-hydroxyisatin thiosemicarbazones, spectroscopic investigation, protein-ligand docking, and in vitro anticancer activity” in the Bioorganic Chemistry Journal. This is a collaborative research output with Professor Paras Nath Yadav from the Central Department of Chemistry, Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal.

Dr. Ravi Shankar Akundi was invited to deliver a talk at the 21st Biennial International  Conference of the Association of Gerontologists India (AGI) on “Elderly Empowerment and Graceful Aging” held at National Institute of Health and Family Welfare (NIHFW), New Delhi, from December 13-15, 2024. Dr. Akundi presented his work on “Inflammation in the Neurodegenerative Brain: the Purinergic-Cyclooxygenase axis”.
