The laboratory conducts research at the intersection of endocrinology, reproductive biology, bone metabolism, and public health. Our emphasis is on generating translational evidence to inform clinical practice and health policy.
Current research areas include:
Bone Health: We investigate bone metabolism focusing on conditions such as osteoporosis, osteomalacia, vitamin D deficiency, calcium–phosphate homoeostasis, bone turnover markers, and age-related skeletal disorders. Our research also explores the molecular, genetic, and environmental factors influencing bone health and develops predictive methods for early disease detection.
Reproductive Health: We examine the pathophysiology, biomarkers, endocrine regulation and long-term health consequences of reproductive disorders, including endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
Transgender Health: We conduct multidisciplinary research into the physical, metabolic, endocrine, and psychosocial health of transgender and gender-diverse populations, including gender dysphoria. The aim is to generate evidence that improves clinical care, health equity, and policy development.
Environmental Endocrinology: This area explores the impact of endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) and other environmental exposures on endocrine function, reproductive health and metabolic disorders.
Translational Endocrinology: We integrate epidemiology, molecular biology, genetics, epigenetics and AI/ML to identify biomarkers, understand disease mechanisms and develop predictive models for endocrine and bone disorders for personalised healthcare.
